You will find a lot of easy tips and techniques in this eBook to quickly transform your golf game and add 20 yards to your drive!

Some Geat Golf Tips

by Lee MacRae

Read along as we offer up some great tips to improve your game of golf.

One option for better accuracy on tight holes is to choke down a few inches on the grip of the driver. The shorter, firmer swing will enhance accuracy without sacrificing too much distance [you'll still hit longer than you would with a fairway wood]. But the key here is to cut down on the wrist cock and make a three-quarter swing. In other words, you shouldn't really give yourself an opportunity to hit and off line drive

These three key factors may persuade you to hit an iron instead of a driver from the tee

1. The design of the whole
2. The weather
3. The state of your golf swing

"Design" refers to the breadth of the fairway, the length of the hole, and sometimes the direction of the hole. If the fairway is narrow, an iron should give you a better chance of hitting it [a fairway wood is not a bad choice either, in this instance]. If the is short, and you don't need maximum distance from the tee to give you a short iron to the green, go for the iron. In fact, unless you can drive the green, ideally you want to be between 75 and 100 yards back, as that will allow you a full wedge shot. Last, if the hole doglegs to the left or right at a point where a well hit drive would travel through the turn and into the rough beyond, then you should take just enough club to reach the turn - an iron, in other words. It's a good idea to use an iron in the windy weather simply because it's an easier club to control. Control is more important than distance in any weather, but especially in the windy stuff. If you're not making solid contact, or are spraying the ball with the driver, go with an iron. Once you regain your confidence, work back to the driver.

Stay flat. Your driving wood should stay along the ground for a least the first 20 to 25 percent of your swing. If your club is lifting up, you will pop the ball up and not get that long boring drive that you see the pros hit regularly.(when the ball takes off like a missile and slowly climbs to a beautiful height and tracks down the fairway).

These simple golf driving tips have proved effective in helping many golfers around the world improve their drives off the tee. Simply apply what you have read here to your own circumstances. Here's to your own improvement!

Price is another factor to pay attention to. High prices do not always equate to a higher quality golfing product. When you pay more money, this doesn't mean your handicap will magically decrease. Spend more time choosing the correct product and less money trying to purchase skill. There are also plenty of golfing fads on the market. Don't become a victim to flashy packaging or alluring imagery. Aim for getting the best product for the most reasonable price.

You may also be wondering what exactly constitutes a senior golfer. In the outside world a becoming a senior starts usually when you're 65. Not in golf, they jumped the gun and started classifying seniors starting at 50 to play on the senior tours. Some players may not want to be considered a senior that early. But it can only help you as the equipment will become easier to use. Heck some don't even wait until 50 if the senior golf equipment will help their game sooner.

How To Buy A Beginner Set Of Golf Clubs

By: Al Scillitani

I was recently looking for golf club sets. As some of you may know, golf clubs can be very expensive. Here is how to purchase a great set of quality clubs for a very low price.

What I was looking for?

I am new to golf. I was looking for a set that would not cost a lot of money in case I did not like the game. I was also looking for a set that was of high quality and did not fall apart or greatly affect my game because of the poor quality. I would prefer not to buy new name brand clubs because of price, so I bought used. I want a quality used set that will let me get a good feel for the game without costing a ton of money.

I would like to keep all the irons the same brand. Having the brand for my driver, woods, and hybrids different from my irons would not be an issue for me. Having a different brand of sand wedge and putter would not be a problem either.

Whats in my bag?

Irons: Tommy Armour 855

Tommy Armour because of the brand and reputation for quality clubs.
Regular Shaft because I am unsure of my full capabilities so I wanted to start with the norm.
Graphite because it is more flexible and should help with distance.

This set of Irons was my first purchase. The set was used, in good condition, and was only $99 on GlobalGolf.com. The set includes irons 3 thru 9 and a pitching wedge. New would probably be around $300.
Total Cost So Far: $99, Total Savings So Far: $200

Driver: MacGregor MacTec NVG2

Graphite shaft, 11.5 degree loft.

Graphite again because of the flexibility. I bought the 11.5 degree loft because it will help with getting the ball in the air. As a beginner, getting the ball in the air may be your biggest challenge.

Drivers may be your most expensive purchase. Some new drivers can be $500 or more. I felt the MacGregor MacTec NVG2 was the best bang for the buck. This club new would be $299, used is only $59.99 in mint condition. You cant beat that!
Total Cost So Far: $158,99, Total Savings So Far: $440

Wood: MacGregor MacTec Again, 3 Wood

Same reasons as my driver choice graphite, regular shafts. The quality to price ratio cant be beat. I chose a 3 wood with 15 degree loft, $29.99 in very good condition (new $199). This was my only wood because I will be purchasing 2 hybrids (2 and 5). A #2 hybrid is very close to a 5 wood.
Total Cost So Far: $188.98, Total Savings So Far: $610

Hybrids: MacGregor MacTec #2 and #5

For consistency, I would like to keep my hybrids MacGregors as well. Graphite and regular stiffness to go with the rest of my clubs. The #2 hybrid was orig $199, used was only $29.99 and the #5 Hybrid was $199 new, used was only $34.99.
Total Cost So Far: $253.96, Total Savings So Far: $945
What is left? I need to add a sand wedge and putter to my bag. Lastly, I will need a bag. I am not too concerned if the sand wedge and putter are Tommy Armour, MacGregor, or a different brand. Switching brands with these 2 clubs will most likely not affect my game.

Sand Wedge and Putter: Cleveland 900 Sand Wedge and Odyssey Dual Force Putter

Cleveland is known for excellent wedges and Odyssey is known for excellent putters. The wedge is 56 degrees and has a steel shaft. The wedge new would be $49.99, used in very good condition $29.99. The putter also has a steel shaft and new would be $39.99 and used in very good condition $29.99.
Total Cost So Far: $313.94, Total Savings So Far: $975

The Bag:

For me, I am not too interested flashy bells and whistles for my bag. I am sure when I get better, I will change my mind. I found an inexpensive stand bag for only $39.99, normally $59.99.

Summary of Beginner Golf Set:
All used golf clubs and the new golf bag were from GlobalGolf.com

Iron Set Tommy Armour
Driver MacGregor
3 Wood MacGregor
2 Hybrid MacGregor
5 Hybrid MacGregor
Sand Wedge Cleveland
Putter Odyssey
Bag RJ Sports

Total Cost Used: $353.93, Total Cost New: $1345.97 for a savings of $990

Some Golf Tips For You

by Lee MacRae

The following tips have been gleaned from various sources over the years. We hope you enjoy them.

I've seen people use the rule that the bottom of the ball (top of the tee) should be level with the top of your driver clubface when placed at rest on the ground. Considering the size of modern-day driver clubfaces, this can seem quite high. But teeing the ball higher reduces the distance the clubface will be from your body when striking the ball, reducing the error of a mis-hit. A half inch or so may not seem like a big deal, but considering how off your shot can be when your clubface is off even a fraction of an inch at impact, every bit helps.

Don't try and hit the ball hard. Simply hitting the ball as hard as you can results in a tense and inefficient physical swing. You can end up achieving the opposite of what you wanted and land the ball way short. A relaxed swing and a relaxed attitude will achieve more accuracy and generally more distance.

Finish towards the target. Pick a spot on the ground that lines up with your target and from your address stretch your wood towards it. If done correctly, your arms should form a V shape with both arms fully extended. Finish the swing over your left shoulder. Do you have a tendency to bend your left arm early. That also will retard distance; keep your V as long as possible before it bends at the finish of your swing and you will find youself getting much more distance.

These simple golf driving tips have proved effective in helping many golfers around the world improve their drives off the tee. Simply apply what you have read here to your own circumstances. Here's to your own improvement!

To make it easier to transport your golf clubs, both on and off the course you require something to carry them in. This is where the golf bag is used. The golf bag is used more than just for carrying your clubs however, it is also a piece of equipment which you use to protect your golf clubs. There are numerous varieties of golf bag available and the choice bag is down to both personal preference and requirements. For example if you will not be using a golf cart then a stand bag will probably be your requirement, however if you will be using a golf cart then it may be more beneficial to use a cart bag. The golf bag will protect your golf clubs from banging into each other and also protect the shafts against wear. The golf bag is of course able to carry other things other than your clubs, there are numerous pockets on the bag where you can put your golf balls, tees, drinks, waterproofs etc.

Tips For Sand Trap Play

By Lee MacRae

Following are some tips to help improve your golf game.

Excessive wrist action can wreck a golf shot. It usually leads to topping or blading, which in a greenside bunker can be especially ruinous. There is usually not much golf course around greens, and a ball blade is out of a bunker could end up in a water hazard, out of bounds, or in some other unplayable lie. It is a good idea, therefore to hit all sand shots with stiff wrists, even those that require you to cock your wrists early on the backswing. Remember; no wrists, no risk.

Visual imagery is commom in bunker play. Some instructors tell students to imagine that the face of the club is the palm of their hands, which they "slap" under the ball in the hitting zone. We prefer to think of money. A dollar bill is slightly more than six inches long. That means that if the bill is laid under a golf ball, about two inches of the ball would protrude back from the bill. As the ideal "explosion shot" demands that you hit into the sand roughly two inches behind the ball, you should pretend that you're hitting the dollar ball out of the bunker. This is an especially useful image because in order to hit the ball right out of the bunker, you'll need to complete your follow-through, and that's another important element of just about every sand shot.

The sand actually allows for a margin of error. Just make sure you accelerate your golf club through the sand and good results will follow. If your impact is close to your ball, it will go longer in the air but will retain a lot of spin. Impact a little farther behind your ball and you make it travel less in the air but it now has the tendency for more run on landing. Just remember to focus on the sand, not on the itself ball, and let your club [and the sand] do the work.

Knowing the basic techniques of bunker sand play will alleviate fears. Remaining calm and keeping some simple techniques in mind will turn your sand play in to childs play. Now head off to play golf.

Weighting of clubs is a vital component of today's clubs as players can adjust the height they hit the ball or control shots such as a draw or fade. Slicers eager to find a quick solution to their problem may go for a club with more of a draw bias and vice versa for a player who tends to hook a lot.

How flexible should the driver shaft be? This is a perplexing question for average players who seem confused by the give in a shaft. It's reasoned that the more flexibility a shaft has the greater power behind the point of impact. This is true in a sense but be careful you don't waste money here unneccessarily. Why? Because shaft flexibility should be in relation to the swing speed of a person's swing. The slower the swing the more flexible the shaft; the faster the swing, the less flexible the shaft for better accuracy.

How To Play Sand Traps

By Lee MacRae

Getting out of a bunker or sand trap in one shot can do wonders for your confidence and your golf game. Follow along as we lay out some tips, tricks and hints to help you with your sand play and watch the improvement in your next round of golf.

The worst thing about hitting an uphill sand shot is that your ball probably is plugged in the sand. Balls that aren't plugged usually roll back down to a flat area. Here's how to play the shot: anchor your body by planting your right foot solidly in the sand, and slant your shoulders so that they are parallel with the slope. The swing for the shot isn't pretty. Just pick up the club sharply, keeping your legs still, and whack the sand behind the ball. Don't try to follow through. Remember that in such a perilous position any recovery is a good recovery.

Many golfers are afraid they will take to much sand and not get the ball out of the bunker. You know you have to hit the sand about two inches behind your ball. So, look for anything as a target - a crease in the sand, a small lump, a dark grain of sand, a small pebble - anything to aim for. Concentrate on THAT spot. Forget all about the ball. Just concentrate on hitting your spot in the sand with the right amount of club and swing. The sand will pop the ball out of the bunker.

Ask any professional golfer the toughest shot in golf and he'll say the 60 yard sand shot. Even the top players have trouble deciding whether this calls for an explosion shot or a normal wedge shot. Fortunately, we average players don't have to make that decision. The 60 yard explosion just isn't in our bags. So we'll make do with the normal wedge shot. Stand squarely, with the ball in the middle of your stance. As with the long bunker shot, you should make contact with the ball first, to remain as steady as possible for as long as possible. As this requires you to swing with only your hands and arms, you'll want to take a club or two more than usual [but bear in mind that playing the ball farther back than normal will deloft the clubface slightly]. For anything up to 75 yards, the average players to use a pitching wedge hit with a three quarters swing.

And no matter what the circumstances are, don't allow tension to ruin your techinque. Tension will ruin even the best of golf swings. Keep your body and your mind loose and positive. Always imagine yourself handling the shot with success. What the mind sees, the body will do. You golf game will improve immensly when you add these tips.

Some Golf Tips

by Lee MacRae

The following tips have been gleaned from various sources over the years. We hope you enjoy them.

Years ago driver club heads, and clubfaces, were much smaller, resulting in a much smaller sweet-spot. The driver heads simply were not large enough to warrant a higher tee height. General rule of thumb says to tee the ball up so that the top half of the ball is above the clubface when the club is resting in starting position on the ground. Naturally with a bigger club head, you need to tee the ball higher to achieve the top half ratio. This will ensure you are still striking the ball with the center of the club head.

Often the difference between a strong, powerful swing and a misguided hack is the tendency to hit, rather than stroke, the ball. The difference can be seen when examining a short putt, when it is easy to stroke the ball. Hitting is not an option for a short putt, which makes it the easiest shot in golf. No desire to hit the ball allows a stroking, swinging motion. Perfect this technique for short-distance shots and you will find increasing accuracy and distance with your long shots as well.

Your driver is the longest club in your bag. That means you have that much more distance between your hands and the ball at impact. Playing into the tip above about teeing the ball higher, you want to make sure that when you address the ball before your swing, that you are allowing your arms to stretch enough at impact. What I mean is that as you swing, and you continue through your downswing, your arms "stretch". It's like that "trick" you learn when you're younger where you stand by a wall and extend your arms and fingertips so that they just barely touch the wall. Put your arms down to rest and then reach up again and you should be able to easily touch the wall. The same concept applies. As you swing, your arms will naturally stretch a bit due to speed and gravity. So if you set up the ball in the middle of the clubface at rest, on your swing you may be apt to hit the ball on the heel of the club. Setting up the ball more towards the toe of the clubface should allow you to hit the ball more on the sweet-spot.

Work on these tips and make sure you tee off with a positive mindset. The more you practice and implement what you learn, the more confidence you will gain in your ability to hit it straight and long. And watch your scores begin to plummet!

At the top of the backswing, there are several helpful checkpoints for achieving more distance: full upper body coil, solid base with your lower body, left knee turns past the golf ball and good, wide extension with the arms.

Many golfers try to emulate Tiger Woods. In fact, Tiger's "two-pivot swing" is considered the modern swing to model your own after. Here is a Tiger tip:

In your backswing, your upper body will turn and while turning, you want to let your left shoulder move across and to the right so that your left shoulder is above your right foot at the top of your backswing. Begin your forward swing as you always do but attempt to finish with your right shoulder above your left foot (as if you are moving slightly ahead of the shot). By doing so, you will finish your swing in a more vertical position and look like Tiger!

If you do this just right, you'll be rewarded with longer distance on your shot.

These simple golf driving tips have proved effective in helping many golfers around the world improve their drives off the tee. Simply apply what you have read here to your own circumstances. Here's to your own improvement!

Your clubs are probably the first piece of golf equipment to consider for an upgrade, once your on the verge of challenging Tiger for the crown. You could decide to replace the entire set of clubs, if money is no object, and your appetite for golf domination has no bounds. But there is another option to consider. There are probably many golf clubs in your bag, that haven't seen the light of day, or the green of a course since the last time you paid for drinks on the nineteenth hole. So, maybe you should just consider gradually replacing the clubs you really use with new high performance clubs. The next few times you go golfing, don't just keep track of the strokes on each hole. Take an extra golf score card, and just track of the golf clubs you use for each hole. A little more work, but after a few weeks, you should have a pretty good idea of which golf clubs you use the most, and which are just coming along for the ride. You may want to make up your own little custom golf club score card just for this exercise.

Some Golf Tips For You

by Lee MacRae

Here are some great tips to help improve the various aspects of your golf game.

You're driving will improve if, before you swing, you draw a mental picture of:

1. Your position at the top of your swing

2. The clubhead swinging through the impact area

3. Where you want your club to finish up [the best way to do this is to pick out a target on the horizon and swing your club toward it]

These images represent the three keys to any good swing: the backswing, the impact, and the follow-through.

Today's equipment and balls are not tailored necessarily for 7 - 8 degree drivers. That is a thing of the past. Getting the ball up in the air on a good trajectory is the first step to driving the ball longer. Many touring pros regurlaly use 9 and 10 degree drivers and drive the ball 300 plus yards. Plus, you will get much more consistency with a more lofted driver.

Work on these tips and make sure you tee off with a positive mindset. The more you practice and implement what you learn, the more confidence you will gain in your ability to hit it straight and long. And watch your scores begin to plummet!

Which Golf Clubs Are Best For You?

By: Lee MacRae

Are you looking to buy new golf clubs? Finding it difficult to determine what will work the best for you? Newcomers especially can become bewildered by the large variety of golf clubs you see when you are looking to buy.

Read along as we discuss the types available and what they each can do for your game of golf.

First, take note of your height. Standard golf clubs are designed for individuals bewteen five and six feet. That principle applies to both men and women. Taller or shorter? Then I suggest you take a look at custom made clubs. It will help your game considerably.

Cast or forged iron clubs. Which?

Generally, you will find that cast iron clubs are the way to go.

What makes cast iron the right choice for most? The answer centers on a particular feature of the cast iron club - a larger "sweet spot". The trem refers to the best area on the club face that will give you the maximum range and accuracy on a shot. The larger the "sweet spot" on a club face, the more area you have to strike the ball well. Being a little off center will not affect your shot to any great degree. It is for that main reason the beginners are steered towards cast iron clubs. Their swing is not as consistant as a seasoned golfer or a pro and so they have an easier time driving the ball well with a larger sweet spot at their disposal. That is why clubs like "Big Bertha" came on the market. The large oversized head obviously gives a much larger sweet spot than a normal driver. Average golfers get longer and straighter drives on a more consistant basis.

Forged iron clubs are generally the opposite. Harder to hit with because of a smaller sweet spot on the club face.

Why, you ask, are forged iron clubs even made then?

This is due to the fact that forged iron offers a better "feel" on your shot because it is a softer metal than cast iron. The better players, on the other hand, will give up that larger sweet spot [and even some distance] to get that better feel of each and every shot they take. With a more consistant swing, they usually strike the ball dead center on most shots anyway. With the better feel of the forged iron club, they can draw, fade, hook or slice the ball deliberately when circumstances on the golf course require it.

Next question, will you use steel or a composite material for the shaft of your new club?

The major criteria here is club speed. An average golfer will have a club head speed of 80-94 mph. Lower speeds usually means you should look at a composite shaft. The problem with lower speed is you get less distance on your shots. You need to generate more speed [and more power] or find some way to compensate until you can. And that is where the composite golf club shaft enters the picture. It gives you a lot more distance than you would get with your normal swing and a steel shaft.

For those of you with faster swing speeds, and subsequenlty good distances, steel shafted clubs will give you a lot more control on your shots. This is very similar to the advantages of iron over cast clubs.

Determining your own swing speed is not difficult. If you don't have a local pro shop with the right equipment, you can find small microwave Doppler radar devices that are run by AAA batterieson the market. You simply set it near your tee and swing away.

With only these few starting tips, it is typically best if you rent a few different sets of clubs as you play and take note of how each club serves or handicaps your game. You are looking to ascertain your own strengths as well as weaknesses. Check out the assorted types and varieties of golf clubs you may find in a rental shop, for example, and discover what works best for you.

These simple golf driving tips have proved effective in helping many golfers around the world improve their drives off the tee. Simply apply what you have read here to your own circumstances. Here's to your own improvement!

Inside the Mental Mental Game of Golf

By: Randy Friedman

The Power of the Inner Mind

Hypnotherapy is used widely to improve performance in sports. Since the Russians dominated back at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, hypnosis has been a proven method in sport training. The Russian team took over 10 hypnotists to develop mental clarity and visualization. In the 1980 Olympics, 12 out of 20 Australian swimmers named, were using hypnosis tapes for two months beforehand.

Great athletes and the Mind Power of hypnosis

Golf is most likely the most popular sport that applies hypnosis techniques, although has been used with many other individual and team sports including football, tennis and baseball, basketball and even swimming.

Greg Louganis, of the 1988 Seoul Olympics would visualize himself doing the dive perfectly over and over before stepping on the diving board. When he tragically hit his head on the board while performing a complicated dive during the 3 meter final, he didnt panic. While his head injury was being treated he put earphones on to listen to hypnosis tapes. Remarkably, Greg then went out to score a perfect dive the second time, enough to earn him the gold medal!

Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls used daily Self hypnosis to empower themselves to be an unbeatable team. They won 6 NBA Championships using mind power techniques to maintain their focus.

Jack Nicholas went beyond saying that golf is 90% mental. He said golf is a game that required 90% mental Preparation and 10% Skill to be the best. He was the first to describe how he visualized. Jack saw every putt going in, and every blade of grass the ball would land on before getting up to hit the shot. His preparation paved the way for his golf career to win time and time again.

Golf is the game that is 90% mental

Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and even Ernie Els have worked on their mind power through golf hypnosis. Youll often hear Tiger say, I trust my subconscious. The reason you dont hear many successful golfers talk about their mental training, is because they know how powerful it is! Yes, 90% of the winners on tour have worked at their golf mind power extensively. Now you can too.

I believe one of the greatest shots in golf was Tigers shot at the 2005 Masters he had hit over the 16th green. It was an incredibly difficult shot that took 100% concentration and complete belief in his internal ability. Watching him take all the elements in, scoping the entire situation and executing with the precision of threading a needle, Tiger holed a shot that was heard around the world. Im still impressed when I see it! (Watch Tiger in action to the left of this article.)

Ive worked with golfers of all abilities, from the first lesson of first gripping the club and addressing the ball, to PGA Tour players of clearing their focus and finding their inner vision. Even though golf is 90% mental, most golfers only practice the physical aspect of the game. Hypnosis is an effective way to connect the mind and body so they work together and improve equally.

So if it is said that golf is 90% mental, then why do most amateur golfers only want to hit balls to improve their game? Ill tell you why. They dont know how to do anything else. Many golf instructors and most books dont emphasize practicing mind power. The big picture is being lost in translation of the essence of the game.

Golf is not just about chasing a ball all over the course; it is profoundly much larger than that. Golf is life! (okay so thats for another article) Like life, golf has many games within the game. And like life, there are ups and downs to the game. The better you manage the downs, the better you will likely score. Mind power and developing the mental game is a huge game within itself. All top athletes know this, most amateurs havent a clue. Here is why.

Look at the number of books published on the golf swing vs. on golfs mental game.

If you search Amazons site youll find this:

* Golf swing - 3,827 books
* Golfs mental game 254 books

So its not your fault if you are not creating your mind power, so to speak. The resources for improving your mental golf game is out there, just not as abundant as the physical aspects of the golf swing. No more excuses, the secret is now out. For you to continue improving at golf, you must work on the mental aspect of golf, period!

Here is your starting point. You can start to work on your subconscious programming when you listen to my FREE power nap. I am giving it away, no strings attached. Follow this link to get you started. During your nap think about what it is you want to improve on. I guarantee the wheels will start to move in the direction of your thoughts! The key is to work on your golf physically and mentally in equal parts so you grow in body, mind power and spirit. Golf is a game of a lifetime. Enjoy every part of it!

Tips To Improve Your Golfing

By: Jimmy Cox

A fine and experienced golfer is not necessarily a good teacher of the game. Why? Because many cracks do not know how they play themselves - when it comes to anything like a close analysis of their shots - and they have no idea at all of how a beginner must feel in order to make the shots that they make.

Let me illustrate that last point, because it is fundamental to teaching and to learning. All crack players feel that they swing from in-to-out when driving. I have been doing this so long that it no longer feels a "guided" or unnatural swing to me. Indeed if I feel myself making any other sort of swing I know it will result in a bad shot.

Yet with the beginner this in-to-out golf swing does feel unnatural and gives an impression that the ball will be pushed into the rough to the right. This feeling will of course be corrected by experience. This disparity in feeling about shots as between the crack and the beginner must never be lost sight of in teaching.

Every teacher has to keep continually in mind the fact that the natural thing for any golfer to do if he thinks first of hitting the ball to the hole rather than of making the shot correctly - is to swing the club head down the desired line of flight. The urge to do this is so strong that a merely academic knowledge of where the club head ought to be felt to go cannot stand against it. William James said that where there is a conflict between the Will and the Imagination, the Imagination always wins.

So no Will to make a correct swing - unless reinforced by our conscious control-can resist, when imagination of the ball flying straight for the hole supervenes. What usually happens is that before the back swing is completed, the player transfers his attention from the matter of making the correct swing to the matter of where he wants to hit the ball, i.e., somewhere at the top of his swing he switches from a correct in-to-out swing to one along the desired line of flight. Consequently he comes down outside the ball.

It is quite useless to tell a pupil he has done wrong when acting instinctively unless you tell him why he did wrong and so enable him to avoid the fault in future. That I always do.

The player who comes down outside is almost invariably thinking of where he wants to put the ball, and the only effective way of overcoming his trouble is by getting him to concentrate on the swing that experience tells him will place it there. If this is done his conscious control - his feeling for the right movements, plus a steady intention to follow will inhibit his natural desire to take disastrous short cuts.

A swing must be built up which can be accepted by the mind as well as the muscles as a satisfactory means to the end desired, and then concentrating on the production of that swing. With a properly felt swing, the swing becomes the aim and the matter of where the ball will fly is left (as it should be) to take care of itself.

And finally, the good golfer feels his swing as all one piece. It is produced by a psycho-physical unison and its control is outside the mind of the player. Any control that is within the mind is subject to the state of the mind and is therefore unreliable.

A single sound line of controls is set up if the student has consistently practiced the same fundamental swing for every shot. Working on these lines and refusing to be side-tracked by extraneous ideas such as "hitting a long ball" or "driving straight down the middle," you can begin to feel a complete assurance that you can at least rely upon producing your best shots every time. They will become a habit with you.

If you are going to be playing on a golf course then you will need good grip. To facilitate this you will require a good quality set of golf shoes, Golf shoes are different to normal shoes as they have spikes on them - these are so that you feet grip into the ground when you are making your swing. Slipping when you make your swing can have disastrous results - in some cases it can cause you to miss the ball altogether. These spikes come in all sorts of varieties, however soft spikes are the normal preference as they do not cause and damage to the greens when you walk on them. Golf shoes do more than just assist you in retaining your grip - the also give you the ability to keep your feet dry. How To Develop A Perfect Golf Swing To Improve Your Game
By: Gregg Hall

If you are going to be playing golf any time soon then you are going to need more then just agility. You are going to need to be totally limber and focused on the game or you are not going to do so well. Even though you may not need endurance during a game of golf you will need to be focused the entire time and not over swing and get nervous or your game is done. If you want to get a good score and win games then you need to get your swing down, a perfect swing is the missing piece that you need to win a game. If you cannot make a good swing then you will not be able to play the game. You need to be able to swing the club perfect before you start playing real games. You will want to play not having to keep buying balls every hole. Just get your swing down to perfection and then you can start playing games of golf. There isn't anything more important in golf then getting your swing down.

So if you and your family love to golf and you have kids then you should think about sending your kids to golf school there are numerous schools across the country to go to. If you still can at least hit the ball win you swing then these schools won't be able to teach you much. The golf swing needs everything to work together to make one thing work your golf swing. Your upper body needs to be inline and you just need to be focused when you are about to make a swing.

When you are about to make a swing your feet should almost always be shoulder length apart in your stance if they are not then you need to make them that way. If you are using a wider club then you can spread your feet a few more inches apart. If you are using a shorter club then you will need your feet to be closer together. You will just want to have a god stance when you are about to swing. Having proper stance in golf is what having a perfect swing means if you do not have a good stance then you is not going to have a pretty swing.

Your arms and legs need to work together to help you swing to the fullest. If not then you are going to have one ugly swing. Your hands and wrists then need to work together as well to perform a nice swing. After you have all your body parts aligned and you are ready to swing be sure that you have your stance correct and then you can begin to make your swing. Your swing needs to be to the stance of the club so make sure that you are swinging with the right stance when you are playing a game of golf. The longer the club the wider the stance the shorter the club the smaller the stance.

Bunkers And Sand Traps - How To Play Them

By Lee MacRae

Getting out of a bunker or sand trap in one shot can do wonders for your confidence and your golf game. Follow along as we lay out some tips, tricks and hints to help you with your sand play and watch the improvement in your next round of golf.

Visual imagery is common in bunker play.

Hitting from a buried lie in the bunker [otherwise known as a "fried egg"] isn't as difficult as most golfers think. In fact, a shot that gets the ball out is closer to a normal golf shot than a conventional bunker shot is. That's because you play the shot with your clubface closed. Remember that the flange of a sand wedge is designed to prevent you from digging into the sand. But with a buried lie, digging in is exactly what you want to do. Close the face of your wedge, hit down into the sand and inch or two behind your ball. This is one of the few sand shots in which a follow-through isn't just important, it shouldn't exist at all! Some golfers have even been known to let the club go at impact. Note; this shot can also be played with a pitching wedge, which is almost guaranteed to dig in.

Sand shots put such fear in the hearts of most golfers that they rush the swing fast and jerkily, thus making the good sand shot a matter more of happenstance than of planning and skill. The simple way to remedy this fault is to swing as slowly as possible. You'll find this lesson useful all over the golf course, but it is most useful in sand. Remember that the whole point of the sand shot is to miss the ball. You hit the sand, and the sand lifts the ball out of the bunker. Swinging faster usually doesn't help. Swinging very slowly will give you a greater feel of hitting the sand behind the ball, take the tension out of the shot, and ultimately give you the confidence needed to play any shot out of sand.

Once you have a feel for the basics of playing from sand, you can easily understand some of the finer points of bunker play, and you will find it easy to adapt your technique to different types of sand challenges and lies. Make your golf game more enjoyable with good sand play.

Sand Trap Tips And Tecniques

By Lee MacRae

Sand play does not have to be life threatening! But that is how many golfers feel when they land a shot into a bunker or sand trap. Follow along as we explain some things you can do to improve in this area of your golf game

Because every golfer wants to get up and down from greenside sand, there is always a great pressure to hit the ball close from a bunker. The fact is, however, that a top pro who gets up and down half the time is doing very well indeed. For this reason you should not concentrate on hitting sand shots to tap-in range [that is, to within three feet] as you would do for a long putt. Focus instead on hitting to within a target that's 12 to 15 feet in diameter. That gives you up to 7 1/2 feet to play with on each side of the hole can be much easier bull's-eye to deal with. You'll be more relaxed and will hit the ball even closer.

The average golfer usually fears the shot from a sand bunker and is defeated before they even attempt one. With practice, keeping in mind the proper technique and a few tips and hints, sand play will be a lot easier than you imagined. And your golf game will be better for it.

golf hybrids

There are numerous different varieties of golf clubs available at present, these are the driver, fairway wood, utility club sometimes also known as a hybrid club, irons, wedge and putter. Each of these different varieties has their relevant use on the golf course. For example the driver is the club which you use from the tee when you want to make a shot which goes a long way, the wedge is used for the short approach aspect of the game when you are coming into the green and of course the putter is used when you are on the green. Which club you decide to use for each shot is individual choice and can depend upon numerous things, game style, course style, ball lie, distance etc etc.

golf putters

Golf equipment should contain a small selection of drivers and in this report, we'll look at some of the aspects required in the make up of this all important tee shot club.

golf hybrids

As for golf clubs, many things affect this decision. First, base the length of your club by your height. Standard clubs should not be used for someone who is very tall or very short. There are also different weights to a club. Lighter clubs allow higher speeds, which is a common choice for female golfers. Another factor to consider is the loft angle of a club. This can be used to cover a greater distance. With a higher loft, you will achieve better trajectory. If you swing rather slow, a golf club with a higher loft may be the best selection.

Tips For Sand Trap Play

By Lee MacRae

Getting out of a bunker or sand trap in one shot can do wonders for your confidence and your golf game. Follow along as we lay out some tips, tricks and hints to help you with your sand play and watch the improvement in your next round of golf.

When your ball is sitting up in sand on a rise that is caused by someone's footprints, don't be fooled into thinking this is an easy shot. Players tend to try to get the ball off the surface of the sand, or take too much sand in an effort not to hit it too far. Do the former and you may blade the ball. Do the latter and you may hit it fat. This is an instance where you want to hit not under the ball, but down and through it. Take your spot, about two inches behind the ball and slightly below it [because of the rise] and swing as you would for a normal chip shot. If you're still worried about getting it too far, move your weight back to your right foot. This will force you to swing more with your arms and will take some power out of the shot.

The delicate explosion shot [where you see a puff of sand and the ball flies to the hole and stops on a dime] is tough to hit consistently. Most attempts see the ball rolling more than expected. So why not anticipate the roll and play for it? The idea is to take the spin out of the shot by hitting even farther behind the ball than usual [three or four inches is recommended] and compensating for the removal of power by making a full swing. your ball will explode out of the sand but will roll a good three or four yards.

Visual imagery is common in bunker play.

And no matter what you do, even for sand play, always imagine the shot before you take it. And imagine the shot being succesfull! Not much sense in defeating yourself before you even start. Imagine yourself being successful throughout your golf game and watch your game flourish.

Tips To Play The Sand Trap

By Lee MacRae

Here are some golf driving tips to make your sand and bunker game better. Take a trip out to the range and see what it does for your score the next time out

A good way to gauge distance on a sand shot is to think of hitting the ball twice as far. Let's say you have a sand shot of 25 feet. Hit it with the same power that you would use for a fairway shot of 50 feet. A word of warning; this system works well on medium to long sand shots. On the short touch shots you're better off practicing to get a feel for finesse. After all, you may well have a 6 foot long sand shot, but how many 12 foot long fairway shots do you ever have?

If you find yourself in a sand bunker position where the ball is above your feet remember: do not simply lean back or attempt your swing on a flatter plane. You need to stand as you would for a normal lie. But now you choke down to the bottom of your grip to counter the change in elevation. With the clubface open , take the club back and outside your target line, now swing through along the line of your open stance. If you let your right hand pass over the left, the slope will send the ball left, so keep your hands quiet as the club cuts through the sand.

If the sand is wet or firm, don't automatically reach for your sand wedge. A better choice in this case would be a pitching wedge. The pitching wedge has less bounce [the curve on the bottom of the head] and is not as sharp on the edges. These feature will prevent the club from digging nto the sand too much and ruining the shot. Just keep the face square [not open as that adds to the bounce] and swing a little shorter than you normally would. Success will follow.

Knowing the basic techniques of bunker sand play and understanding the subtleties of the various problems you can encounter will actually lead you to even enjoy the play from a sand bunker. I'm sure these tips will help you to enjoy your next round of golf.

How To Play Bunkers And Sand Traps

By Lee MacRae

Sand and bunker shots are some of the most intimidating and yet most rewarding shots in golf. Here are some quick tips to help improve your own shots from the sand.

Here is a simple way of remembering how much to open a blade of your sand wedge. Taken an open stance, with your feet aiming to the left of the hole. Then simply open the clubface until it is aiming directly act of the hole. Now, swing outside-to-in across the ball, and your ball will pop out and bounce and roll slightly to the right, toward the hole.

Trying to a hit tee from under your ball is a good drill for getting your drives in the air. It's also a good drill for sand play. Here's how it's done: Tee up your ball in a bunker, and tee it up high. It is the tee from under the ball. Now tee it so that the tee is just barely showing. Hit it out again. Now position the ball so that no part of the tee is visible, the bottom of the ball is flush with the sand. Practice until you can consistently hit the tee out of the sand, then play the same shot while pretending that the tee is still under the sand. The lesson here is that the golfer hits the sand and the sand lifts the ball out of the bunker. So at no point did you think of hitting the ball itself.

Knowing the basic techniques of bunker sand play will alleviate fears. Remaining calm and keeping some simple techniques in mind will turn your sand play in to childs play. Now head off to play golf.

Proper foot positioning, and support, are essentially the beginnings of a great golf swing. The pros, or staff at a good golf equipment store can be helpful in choosing a pair of golf shoes that are appropriate for you.
